Welcome to Jamaica Hospital’s Palliative Care Fellowship Program
Thank you for visiting our website and welcome to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.
The Jamaica Hospital Family Medicine Palliative Care Fellowship Program is a dually accredited program designed to train physicians who are committed to improving comfort and quality of life for patients and families facing life-limiting illness.
The program places emphasis on providing culturally sensitive care to our diverse patient population taking into account cultural and spiritual views on health, illness and the end-of-life. It is hoped that Fellows who have completed the program will remain within the hospital’s vicinity and that they will continue to provide personalized, comprehensive and culturally sensitive palliative care to our community’s patients.
The primary site of training is the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Fellows work as active members of the Inpatient and Ambulatory Palliative Care team. Other required training takes place in the Trump Pavilion for Nursing and Rehabilitation, or Long Term Care facility, with Hospice of New York (HONY) and with St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. Fellows are exposed to the full spectrum of chronic complex life-limiting illnesses and End-of-Life care in patients of all ages and in all clinical settings.
