The Emergency Medicine Department at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a fully equipped, comprehensive treatment area, offering state-of-the-art healthcare. The department is supported by our nursing and ancillary staff who are trained and experienced in the care of emergency patients. They have a talent for dealing with the concern of patients and their families in a stressful environment and work hard to assure that patients are comfortable and well-informed of their conditions.

The department has a full spectrum of services providing adult, pediatric, and critical care units. Specifically, the hospital’s ED includes a Level 1 Trauma Center, the highest designation, and was one of the first in Queens to open a Chest Pain Center. In addition, there is a Fast Track Center and a separate child-friendly Pediatric Emergency Department.
