The Emergency Department at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a fully equipped, comprehensive treatment area, offering state-of-the-art care. The department is staffed by a team of  Board Certified physicians and specially trained nurses who are experienced in treating patients requiring emergency care. They understand importance addressing the concerns of their patients and their families in a stressful environment and work hard to assure that all patients are comfortable and well-informed of their conditions. The department offers a full spectrum of services including separate adult, pediatric, and critical care units. The Emergency Department is also a designated a Level 1 Trauma Center, the highest designation, and was one of the first Jamaica Hospital was the first hospital in Queens to open a Chest Pain Center. In addition, Jamaica Hospital's Emergency Department also operates a Fast Track Center for those with minor injuries.

Meet Our New Emergency Medicine Trained Physicians

Jamaica Hospital’s Chest Pain Center is a six-bed unit located within the emergency department, and employs central monitoring of patients with electrocardiography capability. The Chest Pain Center allows for quick diagnoses and specific treatments and prevention of heart attacks, including coronary stenting. The center is located adjacent to a newly constructed Critical Care Area. The department also supports the Fast Track Center, which is dedicated to the evaluation of less serious conditions and allows for a more rapid turnaround time for patients. Our Pediatric Emergency Department provides 24-hour emergency care to infants, children and young adults in a child-friendly environment. Our Pediatric ED staff have advanced training in emergency care and have experience working with children in a compassionate and caring manner. Emergency Department Highlights:
