Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Registered Dietitians assist patients with growing their knowledge about nutrition, wellness, and healthy eating.
We specialize in weight management counseling, diabetes, as well as pediatric and prenatal nutrition. Virtual (video/tele) nutrition counseling sessions available to all patients
An appointment with a Registered Dietitian consists of a comprehensive nutrition assessment, nutrition education, behavior modification counseling and goal setting. Each goal established is individually tailored to a patient’s specific nutritional and medical issues.
You can benefit from individualized nutrition counseling if you have any of these conditions:

  • Diabetes Mellitus (Type I or Type II)
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Obesity (adult and pediatric)
  • Gastrointestinal disorders

Here are a few things you should know before your appointment:

  • Nutrition visits are currently offered as Telehealth via phone call or video visit if registered with MyChart.
  • Most insurances cover nutrition counseling Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease. Please call your insurance company to verify your coverage.
  • Confirm with your health insurance provider coverage of additional nutrition services.
  • You will need a referral with an ICD-10 Diagnosis Code and your physician’s signature.
  • If this is your first time at a MediSys clinic, please bring a copy of recent medications and bloodwork.
