Welcome to Jamaica Hospital’s Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program

Address from the Chairman

medical students 532548531Welcome to our OB/GYN Residency Program website. We thank you for your interest and hope our site will provide the information to spark your curiosity in further exploring our program.  The Program has a long history of producing skilled and compassionate OBGYNs ready for clinical practice or to continue training in fellowships. They are trained in the full breadth of the specialty and its sub-specialties.  Our program is a community hospital residency offering exceptional hands-on training with a scholarly orientation and high academic standards.  The program is close-knit and intimate which nurtures collaboration among residents and close mentoring relationships with faculty.

We are a fully accredited four-year residency by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Residents participate in a variety of educational activities, such as structured weekly Grand Rounds, protected teaching time, a faculty mentorship program, independent research, training for poster presentation and time for elective rotations. Our commitment to teaching is reflected in the fact that our ABOG Written Exam pass rate for new graduates has been 100% for the last ten years in a row.  Our program is approved for 12 categorical and 1 preliminary residents. Our residents are well-rounded with passion for self-improvement and academic excellence.

The majority of the rotations are on campus and with some at affiliated institutions including Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center, and Flushing Hospital Medical Center.  Due to our academic affiliations and collaboration, our residents are exposed to the newest diagnostic and management modalities in all areas. We also provide flexibility to our residents to schedule external rotation which assists them in their fellowship pursuits.  Residents are introduced early and extensively trained in minimally invasive surgery. Structured education and simulation in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is formally incorporated in the educational process.

We have prepared this website to help you explore our program. If you have any questions please call the residency office at 718-206-6822
