The Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Medical Library offers many services for our medical staff and employees, including:
Expert Literature Search
Our Director can perform an expert literature search of the journal literature in a variety of databases and email search results (citations and full text articles) to your email account. Consider using this service when you are preparing a presentation, writing a case report for publication or need information on an unusual medical case.
Interlibrary Loans
If you identify an article or articles that you need for your work but the articles are not available full text online, ask our circulation desk to obtain this material for you from another library. When received, we will be happy to email these articles to you.
Training in the Use of Electronic Library Resources
Our Director can provide individual and/or small group training in the use of specific library databases (e.g., pubmed,Ovid nursing) and library textbook collections (e.g. stat!ref, R2 library).
Remote (Home) Access to Electronic Resources
Our staff will be happy to help you create usernames and password to those resources with remote access
Computer Access
10 computers with internet access, Microsoft Office and EPIC are available in the medical library for the use of individuals with JHMC identification. One computer has scanner access.
Access to Library Resources from all Medisys Computers
Look for the “Library Resources “ folder on computer desktops

Wireless Internet Access is Available in the Medical Library
Registration and setup by the library staff is required

Scanning/Photocopying/Faxing
These services are available during staffed library hours.
Small Group Study/Conference Room
The JHMC Medical Library has a small conference room which can be used for small group study M-F before 8:00 am and after 5:00 pm and any time on weekends.
Hours of Operation
The Medical Library is open from Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 8:30am until 5:00 pm
(24 hour access for residents, employees and students currently rotating at JHMC)
