Stop the Bleed workshop @ JASA-Jewish Association Serving the Aging [In-person]

Stop the Bleed is a national initiative aimed at training individuals to respond effectively to bleeding emergencies. The program is designed to empower bystanders to act quickly and save lives before professional help arrives.

Key Components of Stop the Bleed Training:

  1. Recognizing Life-Threatening Bleeding: Participants learn to identify different types of bleeding and understand which situations require immediate intervention.
  2. Applying Pressure: The training covers how to use hands or cloth to apply direct pressure to a wound to control bleeding.
  3. Wound Packing: Participants are taught how to pack a wound with gauze or a clean cloth to help stop the bleeding.
  4. Using a Tourniquet: The course includes instructions on how to properly apply a tourniquet to limbs to control severe bleeding.
