Meet Our Integrative Health Team

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Integrative Health Department is comprised of a diverse team of experienced physicians, each of whom has the expertise needed to provide you with comprehensive care that takes your individual needs into account.

Alan R. Roth, D.O.

Jamaica Hospital Care Staff - Alan R. Roth, D.O., FAAFP, FAAHPM

Dr. Alan Roth is a dually certified Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine. He is also Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and presently serves as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine and Director of the Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Also serving as the Chief of the Department of Integrative Pain and Palliative Care Medicine, Dr. Roth has been trained in Integrative Medicine through completion of The University of Arizona Residency Training Program and is spearheading the development of the Integrative Medicine Program for the MediSys Health Network.  Dr. Roth’s special areas of interest include cultural competency training in graduate medical education, palliative medicine, disease prevention, health promotion, and procedural skills. Dr. Roth is a community-minded physician who regularly mentors many of our local youth interested in becoming Family Physicians.

Kamica Lewis, D.O.

Dr. Lewis is a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training at Georgetown University/Providence Hospital Family Medicine Program in Washington, DC. Dr. Lewis completed a fellowship at the University of Arizona Integrative Medicine Program and is a certified Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence teacher.

Danielle LaSalandra, M.S. D.O.

Dr. LaSalandra is a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training at New York Presbyterian Columbia University. She has completed two Integrative Medicine Fellowships from the University of Arizona and Columbia University Stamford Hospital, and she is board certified in Integrative Medicine. She is certified in medical acupuncture having completed her training at both the University of New England Integrative Structural Acupuncture Course and the Helms Institute. She has also completed a certification course through Cornell University in herbal medicine. Dr. LaSalandra currently works as a Family Medicine physician at JHMC and incorporates a combination of mind-body, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and dietary guidance into her appointments. 

Martin Ehrlich, MPH, M.D.

Dr. Ehrlich is a Family Medicine, Integrative Pain Management and Hospice and Palliative Care at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. He is a graduate of the Integrative Medicine Fellowship at University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, and is a teacher of Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Meditation.

Pan San Chan, M.D.

Dr. Pan San Chan, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, began her journey as a comprehensive primary care physician during her residency in Family Medicine at Jamaica Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident. Her experience has led to a special interest in Integrative Medicine which utilizes multifaceted treatment plans to guide her patients on their individualized journeys to wellness and healing. Additionally, Dr. Chan provides patient-centered care in the Post-COVID Care Center, treating patients suffering from the long-term effects of COVID-19.

Kimberly Forbes, M.D.

Kimberly Forbes, MD – Dr. Forbes is a graduate of Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine and a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. During this time Dr. Forbes was able to explore her interests in Integrative Medicine with completion of the The University of Arizona Integrative Medicine in Residency Training Program.  Dr. Forbes currently works as a Palliative Medicine attending at JHMC and a Family Medicine physician in the community. As a resident of Jamaica, Queens, her passions include community medicine, Integrative health, whole body approaches to care, and empowering patients to develop self-care practices that will directly benefit their overall health. 

Monica Bal, M.D.

Dr. Bal is a graduate of the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Bal’s areas of interests include Integrative Medicine, Preventative health, and Women’s health.
