Welcome
Jamaica Hospital Rehabilitation

Jamaica Hospital’s Rehabilitation department is committed to providing top-notch rehabilitative services to our patients. The primary goal of rehabilitation services is to return the patient to an optimal level of function. Our team of dedicated therapists and healthcare professionals work tirelessly to create personalized treatment plans that cater to each individual's unique needs and goals. We believe in a holistic approach to rehab, addressing not only the physical aspects but also our patients' emotional and mental well-being. Understanding the importance of a supportive and nurturing environment in the rehabilitation process is why we strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our patients. We offer Inpatient and Outpatient services in our hospital located in the neighborhood of Richmond Hill/Jamaica, close to all forms of public transportation.

We are staffed with highly skilled physical, occupational, and speech therapists and physicians, who excel in treating a wide variety of neuromuscular disorders including stroke, musculoskeletal injuries, traumatic brain injuries/neurological injuries, pain syndromes, and other disabilities. We offer an individualized treatment plan to individuals with injuries involving nerves, bones, and joints, or experiencing acute or chronic pain syndromes.

Inpatient Services

The department’s inpatient programs include the Margaret T. Palomino Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. It is an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission certified.

The Margaret T. Palomino Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit specializes in treating individuals with acute physical disabilities who require intensive and comprehensive rehabilitation services to maximize their ability to function. The program uses an interdisciplinary approach to treatment and provides cross-specializations to ensure that patients receive the best quality rehabilitative care. Patients get intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapies in a supportive environment. Other medical specialties, nutrition, social work, and therapeutic recreation complement the rehabilitative therapies that the patient receives. The family member also plays an integral part in the person’s rehabilitation. We encourage family participation and often involve family members/caregivers to train them to care for the patient at home. Post-discharge recommendations for services are made in conjunction with Case Managers and Social Workers. As the unit is within the hospital premises, the patient has access to all specialty services such as neurosurgery, medicine, cardiac, orthopedics, etc. should the need arise. Other hospital services such as radiology, laboratory, nutrition, etc. are also available.

Outpatient Services
