Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks healthy tissue. It can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, and other organs. Symptoms of systemic lupus erythematosus include skin rashes, arthritis, swelling in the feet and around the eyes due to how lupus affects the kidneys, extreme fatigue, and low fevers. Treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus include medications such as antimalarial drugs, steroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), immunosuppressives, blood thinners, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and ACTH gels.
