Psychiatric Emergency Department

Our Psychiatric Emergency Department provides acute evaluation and treatment, including crisis intervention for adults who are experiencing psychiatric symptoms.  If necessary, patients are admitted to one of our inpatient units. Outpatient Psychiatry Services

If you are looking for  a psychiatrist in Queens, Jamaica Hospital’s  Mental Health Clinic is located at 90-09 Van Wyck Expressway in Jamaica, Queens.  We offer group, individual, family, and couples therapy, medication management, and specialty services for children, adolescents, and adults. Inpatient Psychiatry Services

Patients are treated on one of our two 28-bed adult inpatient units.  We provide psychiatric services by a staff of caring professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, creative arts therapists, and nurses. Mobile Crisis Services

We operate two community mobile crisis teams as part of our comprehensive emergency psychiatric services. Our team provides care to patients who are either unable or unwilling to receive continuing out-patient psychiatric services. These teams, comprised of a coordinator, certified social worker, and psychiatrist, visit the homes of both recently discharged patients, as well as newly referred patients seven days a week. Consultation / Liaison Service

The Department of Psychiatry provides 24-hour consultation and liaison services to other departments in the hospital, such as emergency room, internal medicine,family medicine, surgery, geriatric, pediatric, and obstetrics  & gynecology departments. Inpatient Chemical Dependency Unit (CDU)

Our 30-bed Chemical Dependency Unit is located at Flushing Hospital.  We provide medically managed detoxification for alcohol, opiates, including heroin, and other substances. Services are provided for adults 18 years and older. Highly qualified professionals trained in substance dependency treatment staff the unit, including physicians, PA’s, certified alcohol and substance abuse counselors, social workers, and nurses. Reflections Outpatient Program

The Reflections Outpatient Program  at Flushing Hospital is a chemical dependence outpatient service that uses a culturally sensitive holistic model in treating addiction and addressing the impact it has on patients’ lives, as well as the lives of their families and loved ones. An abstinence-based approach is used to encourage participation in a 12-step program and other sources of sober support. Groups concentrate on areas such as relapse prevention, stress management, motivation, and fun in recovery. There are both male and female groups, and a group for patient’s significant others.
