Dr. Ascencio serves as the Acting-Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Director of Ambulatory Women’s Health at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
She completed her undergraduate studies at SUNY Albany where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to earn her medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her residency training at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Dr Ascencio earned a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) with a focus on medical management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Dr Ascencio joined the team at Jamaica Hospital in 2019 and is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She has a passion for community health and is an advocate for health literacy. This passion leads to an interest in minimally invasive surgery and a holistic approach to patient care. Her practice has spanned over 2 decades and in this time, she has engaged in group, private and hospital based practice settings.

Dmitry Fridman, MD, PhD, FACOG
Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program
I chose the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology because it is the field in which I feel I can make the most difference. My goal is to provide individualized, evidence-based care to allow women to make the best choices for themselves. I strive to help my patients through various phases of their lives. I help to select personalized family planning options, diagnose the cause of pain and bleeding, and alleviate those problems. My subspecialty training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and gynecologic ultrasound helps me in helping my patients. I provide empathic support to improve the lives of my patients. That is what drives me every day.

Vidya Sharma, MD
Associate Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program
Dr Vidya Sharma is a board-certified Obstetrician Gynecologist and an associate residency program director. After graduating from medical school in 2001, she finished her post-graduate training in India before migrating to the United States. She completed Obstetrics and Gynecology residency from Lincoln Medical Center. Since then, she has been working with underserved population and currently provides comprehensive care to women. She is currently pursuing Masters in Health Professions Education. Her passion for teaching and ability to work closely with residents led her to the Jamaica Medical Center.

Amy Lai, M.D., F.A.C.O.G
Associate Director, Gynecology
Dr. Amy Lai is an obstetrician-gynecologist practicing in the New York area since 2002. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994 magna cum laude. She earned her medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed residency training at Albert Einstein College Of Medicine-Montefiore-Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. She started working in NYU-Downtown with the Health Services Corps for the underserved, and then proceeded to work in Queens at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Flushing Medical Center, and New York Hospital-Queens. Her interest in residency training led her to devote her practice to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. She has particular interests in family planning, laparoscopy, and vaginal surgery. She speaks Cantonese and Mandarin fluently and some Spanish and French.

Nuan Cui, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Faculty Sub-Specialist Urogynecology
Dr. Cui joined our faculty in 2015 after completing her Female Pelvic Medicine Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. She is a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry at University of Kentucky, and earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed her OB/GYN residency at Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island. Her area of clinical interest and research include pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence surgery and general management of female pelvic and urinary complaints. She is well published, an excellent public speaker, and teacher. She has made significant contributions to our resident education in the area of urogynecology and teaches our residents about the most up-to-date surgical techniques and treatments.

Jannatul Ferdous, MD

Dr. Jannatul Ferdous is an obstetrician and gynecologist. She earned her Medical degree from Khulna Medical College, Bangladesh, and afterwards she earned her Fellowship in OBGYN from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. She worked as an Assistant Professor after her fellowship. Dr. Ferdous completed her OBGYN residency training from Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She is interested in taking care of the underserved diverse population in Queens that encouraged her to join Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. She speaks Bengali fluently, and Hindi/Urdu to some extent

Angela Huang, M.D.

Dr. Angela Huang is an obstetrician and gynecologist. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Huang is from Queens, NY, and is enthusiastic to serve the community where she grew up. Her goal is to continually provide individualized and evidence-based care for her patients. She speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently.

Sofya Kilshtok, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Kilshtok is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1992, she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at Irkutsk State Medical School in Russia. Shortly after she completed post-graduate training in general Obstetrics and Gynecology and later became the Chair of Labor and Delivery. After moving to the United States she completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Richmond University Medical Center. She is now a Laborist at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Kilshtok is fluent in Russian.

Dr. Alicia Knight-DeBrady has been board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1996. She completed her residency training at Columbia University’s St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in the early 90’s. She attended medical school at Hahnemann University (now Drexel University) in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Knight-DeBrady practices in the heart of Queens, New York, where she was raised. She specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology. She enjoys caring for women of all ages. She is energetic and positive at all times and finds the silver lining in every situation. She loves to empower women to promote maturation, growth and advancement in life, to achieve your best health. Dr. Knight-DeBrady enjoys caring for every mother and baby’s delivery and all Gyn patients with great enthusiasm.

Dr. Miltiadis Pitsos is a general Ob/Gyn physician. He earned his medical degree from the University of Athens, Greece, and afterwards a PhD degree from the same University. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency training at UMDNJ in Newark, New Jersey. He has over 10 years of experience in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility. He practices general Ob/Gyn and has a special interest in treating high risk pregnancies, consulting women with infertility problems and performing minimally invasive surgeries.

Hala Ubaid, DO

Dr. Hala Ubaid was born and raised in New York and attended the New York Institute of Technology for her undergraduate education. Dr. Ubaid then went on to complete her medical education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, which included a holistic approach to patient care. She graduated with honors in both her undergraduate and graduate studies. Throughout her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Nassau University Medical Center, she continued to perform at the top of her class and was able to gain extensive experience serving a diverse population. She then went on to work in private practice in the NYC/ Long Island area for several years before joining Jamaica Hospital Medical Center/ Flushing Hospital Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Ubaid is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu.

Peter Wong, D.O., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Peter Wong is a board certified OB/GYN who earned his medical degree from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency training at New York Downtown Hospital. Dr. Wong has over 12 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. He enjoys providing personalized obstetrical care for his patients. Dr. Wong also performs minimally invasive surgery to help reduce recovery time. He is fluent in Chinese (both Cantonese and Mandarin). In his spare time he likes to fish, rock climb, and spend time with his family.
