Breastfeeding Classes
Making sure that you and your baby have the best start is one of our highest priorities. Breastfeeding your baby will help to provide a strong foundation for their health. Choosing to breastfeed can offer many health benefits including protection from viruses and bacteria, fewer ear infections, incidents of diarrhea and respiratory illnesses.
As part of our commitment to ensuring that mothers and babies’ health get off to a good start, Jamaica Hospital provides free Breast Feeding Education Classes.
WIC Prenatal Breastfeeding Support Group
For Jamaica Hospital WIC participants, this is a great opportunity to speak to certified lactation counselors about your feeding plan.

Women’s Health Center Postpartum Breastfeeding Support Group
Bring your baby and meet other breastfeeding moms in your community. This is a great opportunity to ask your questions in a group or private setting.

La Leche League Leaders of Jamaica at Women’s Health Center
In an effort to offer mothers who chose to breastfeed ongoing support Jamaica Hospital has collaborated with La Leche League to provide education, support and encouragement during monthly group meetings.

Neontal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Support Group
Breastfeeding babies in NICU can be challenging. We support new moms with babies who have stayed in the NICU throughout this process. We provide information and instruction on everything from pumping to kangaroo care.
