Chairman, Department of Family Medicine, Ambulatory Care and Community Medicine
Chief, Department of Integrative Pain and Palliative Care Medicine
Alan Roth, D.O. , FAAFP
Dr. Roth is Chairman of the MediSys Health Network Department of Family Medicine, Ambulatory Care and Community Medicine at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, NY. He is also Chief of Integrative Pain and Palliative Care and former Family Medicine Residency Director and Director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Dr. Roth has been trained in Integrative Medicine through completion of The University of Arizona Residency Training Program and is spearheading the development of the Integrative Medicine Program for the MediSys Health Network. Dr. Roth is a practicing and academic Family Medicine and Palliative Care Physician and the recipient of numerous awards including “NY Magazine Best Doctor” as well as being featured in TIME magazine as a Guardian of Healthcare during the COVID -19 Pandemic. He is a Professor of Family Medicine at NYITCOM and Assistant Professor of Social and Family Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Presenting and publishing widely over the course of his extensive career, Dr. Roth consistently advocates for his patients and primary care values as a healthcare leader. His professional areas of interest are vast and include retaining a focus on patients during healthcare transformation, including creating a whole-person advanced primary care model, teaching, integrative health, and health equity.

Program Director, Family Medicine Residency Program
Gina M. Basello, DO
Dr. Basello is a graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She completed her residency training at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Mount Sinai School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program. She has always been passionate about education and immediately accepted a faculty position at the program and was quickly promoted to Associate Program Director. She was appointed Program Director in 2008 and her favorite part about being a Program Director is mentoring Residents. She also serves as the Associate Director of the Palliative Care Fellowship Program and Director of Graduate Medical Education at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Her professional areas of interest include cultural sensitivity training, faculty development and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Associate Program Director, Family Medicine Residency Program
Sally Mathew-Geevarughese, DO
Dr. Mathew-Geevarughese is a graduate of the NYIT-College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her family medicine residency training at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. She went on to complete a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine Program. She supervises fellows, residents and medical students and enjoys teaching how to deliver quality, compassionate care to people of all ages and walks in life. She has also taken leadership roles as a trained organ donor requester for LiveOnNY, is qualified by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and has been involved in providing palliative services to families struggling after fetal demise. She was promoted to the position of Associate Program Director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship in July 2019.

Medical Advisor for Jamaica Hospitals Care Management programs
Oscar Corzo, MD
Dr. Corzo completed his medical education at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn. His residency was in Family Medicine at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he also went on to complete his Fellowship in Palliative Care. A long-time adopted New Yorker, he is happy to continue to be part of the Jamaica Hospital family as Faculty Attending in Palliative Care. During his time serving the Queens community, he has found it personally rewarding to deliver compassionate care and guidance to under served populations with chronic and terminal illness.
Dr. Corzo’s interests also include community medicine, which led him to hold his additional position of Medical Advisor for Jamaica Hospitals Care Management programs. These programs provide enhanced outpatient resources to patients in need in order to improve the management of their chronic conditions and protect them from further worsening that may require hospital admission.

Attending Physician
Elizabeth Figuracion, DO
Dr. Figuracion is an attending physician in Hospice and Palliative Care at Jamaica Hospital. She is board certified in Family Medicine. She earned her medical degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Figuracion has completed her residency in Family Medicine as well as her Hospice and Palliative Care fellowship at Jamaica Hospital. As she calls Queens New York her home, she finds passion in helping vulnerable populations, especially through difficult times.
