Ophthalmology Residency Program
Admission & Application
The Department of Ophthalmology selects its Residents through the Ophthalmology Matching Program (OMP). Please contact the San Francisco Match (details below) in order to register for the match and apply for the Central Application Service (CAS). The CAS will distribute your application to our residency program. Residents are matched approximately 18 months prior to the starting date. Two Residents are selected each year.
All interested applicants must have completed their first year of Residency from an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program. Candidates are asked not to send any materials directly to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Department of Ophthalmology.

Fellowships are performed after a Resident graduates their 3 consecutive years of training and would like to specialize in an ophthalmology specialty such as: neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, retina, medical retina, uveitis, cornea, refractive surgery, pediatrics, oculoplastics, etc. Those interested in applying for the fellowship would have to apply through the Ophthalmology Fellowship Match (OFM). Depending on the specialty, the fellowship usually takes an additional 1 to 2 years of training.
