Filza graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science. She is the first one in her family to have graduated from a college. She obtained her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Her hobbies include traveling and trying new food places.

Marriam Tasawar holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Medgar Evers College and pursued her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine studies at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Originally from an underdeveloped country, she is passionate about podiatry for its hands-on approach, surgical opportunities, and ability to address a wide range of patient needs. Marriam aspires to use her skills and expertise to serve underserved communities in her home country in the future. Beyond her professional pursuits, she enjoys culinary arts with a long-term goal of opening her own restaurant.

Born and raised in New York, Sadia lives by the saying “New York or nowhere.” Sadia graduated from NYIT with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and New York College of Podiatric Medicine with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine. While she’s not lurking in the hallways of Jamaica Hospital, you’ll probably catch Sadia spending her free time going to coffee shops and restaurants, catching up on TV shows, reading books, attending high-intensity workout classes, and trying to perfect her matcha making skills.

Ridi Kabir is on a mission to keep her local community, Queens, on its feet – one step at a time! She enjoys being kept on her toes, whether in clinic or the OR, in tackling a variety of pathologies of the lower limb with her teammates while serving a vibrant and diverse patient population. She received her Bachelors in Natural Sciences at Fordham University and earned her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. When she’s not wearing her scrubs, you can catch her watching the latest movie, exploring NYC’s food gems, and spending time with her family and friends!

Chief Resident

Ali is a native of Long Island, New York born and raised! He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and later pursued Masters degrees in Public Health and Biomedical Sciences at Drexel University. In 2017, he returned to New York and obtained his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys dining, playing tennis and basketball, and spending time with family.

Alyssa joined the Podiatry program in July 2021 after graduating from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from SUNY Albany and attended the Master’s Degree Program in Biological and Physical Sciences at Touro College. She was a competitive gymnast for 10 years, sparking her passion for podiatric foot and ankle care. She is an Astoria, Queens native who enjoys spending her free time skiing, cooking pasta, and participating in high-intensity workout classes!
