Alan Roth, D.O. , FAAFP

Dr. Roth is a dually certified Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine. He is also Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and presently serves as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine and Director of the Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Also serving as the Chief of the Department of Integrative Pain and Palliative Care Medicine, Dr. Roth has been trained in Integrative Medicine through completion of The University of Arizona Residency Training Program and is spearheading the development of the Integrative Medicine Program for the Medisys Health Network. His special areas of interest include cultural competency training in graduate medical education, palliative medicine, disease prevention, health promotion and procedural skills. Dr. Roth is a community-minded physician who regularly mentors many of our local youth interested in becoming Family Physicians.

Program Director

Danielle LaSalandra, MS DO

Dr. LaSalandra is a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training at New York Presbyterian Columbia University. She has completed two Integrative Medicine Fellowships from the University of Arizona and Columbia University Stamford Hospital, and she is board certified in Integrative Medicine. She is certified in medical acupuncture having completed her training at both the University of New England Integrative Structural Acupuncture Course and the Helms Institute. She has also completed a certification course through Cornell University in herbal medicine. Dr. LaSalandra currently works as a Family Medicine physician at JHMC and incorporates a combination of mind-body, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and dietary guidance into her appointments.

Assistant Program Director

Kamica Lewis, DO

Dr. Lewis is a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training at Georgetown University/Providence Hospital Family Medicine Program in Washington, DC. Dr. Lewis completed a fellowship at the University of Arizona Integrative Medicine Program and is a certified Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence teacher.

Martin Ehrlich, MPH M.D.

Dr. Ehrlich is trained in Family Medicine, Integrative Pain Management, and Hospice and Palliative Care. He is a graduate of the Integrative Medicine Fellowship through the University of Arizona and is a teacher of Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Meditation. He is also certified in acupuncture, homeopathy and medical marijuana. Additionally, Dr. Ehrlich previously served as the Medical Director of Mount Sinai/Beth Israel Center for Health and Healing from 2008-2016.

Pan San Chan, M.D.

Dr. San Chan is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She began her journey as a comprehensive primary care physician during her residency in Family Medicine at Jamaica Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident. Her experience has led to a special interest in Integrative Medicine which utilizes multifaceted treatment plans to guide her patients on their individualized journeys to wellness and healing. Dr. Chan currently provides a patient-centered, integrative approach to care in the Post-Covid Care Center, treating patients suffering from the long-term effects of COVID-19. In addition, she is participating in the Integrative Medicine in Residency program and will have completed the modules by the start of the fellowship program.

Monica Bal, M.D.

Dr. Bal is a graduate of the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Dr. Bal’s areas of interests include Integrative Medicine, Preventative health, and Women's health. She completed the Integrative Medicine in Residency program and is currently the assistant director of this program for the Jamaica Hospital Family Medicine Residency.

Meera Kuntawala, M.D.

Dr. Meera Kuntawala developed her interest for Integrative Medicine in childhood thanks to the exposure to Ayurvedic medicine and food as medicine throughout her South Asian upbringing. During medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA, she participated in an Integrative Medicine Elective through AWCIM. She then completed residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago where she completed the Integrative Medicine in Residency track with curriculum from AWCIM. Her favorite IM modalities are yoga, reiki, grounding and loving-kindness meditation.

Gretchen Boeskool, M.D.

Dr. Boeskool is from Grand Rapids, MI, and is a graduate of NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency at Jamaica Hospital. Her interests are Primary Care, Preventative Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Community Health. She is proficient in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and is passionate about providing this modality to her patients and teaching these skills to her colleagues.

Karen Codd, DAT, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC

Dr. Codd is a creative arts psychotherapist and Assistant Director of Team Wellness at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Her research explores resident perspectives on the use of art therapy for preventing burnout and supporting well-being. She is a member of the faculty for both the Psychiatry and Family Medicine residency programs at Jamaica, and she provides group and individual support to both hospital staff and learners. Dr. Codd also facilitates an elective rotation on Clinician Well-being.
