Welcome
Robotic Surgery in Queens NY

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is proud to announce the newest member of our team, the da Vinci Robot. This state-of-the-art robotic surgical platform is the most advanced method of delivering minimally invasive surgery to our patients.
The da Vinci Surgical Robotic Platform serves as an extension of our highly trained and esteemed surgeons. It consists of a console in the operating room where the surgeon sits and controls the movements of the robot’s arms during surgery (The surgeon is in 100% control of the robot, which translates their movements into smaller, more precise movements.)

The machine’s dexterity allows far greater control and precision than the human wrist. Small incisions are cut at the surgical site where miniaturized tools and a sophisticated, high-definition 3D camera are inserted. The camera lets the surgeon view a magnified, 3D, and high-resolution image of the surgical site.

Through robotic-assisted surgery, procedures that once required open surgery can now be performed through small incisions on the body. Patients may receive several benefits, such as minimal scarring, less pain, faster recovery times, less risk of wound infection, shorter hospital stays, and less blood loss.

Through the use of the DaVinci robotic surgical platform, our expert surgeons will have the ability to provide a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, such as:

Cholecystectomy, or gallbladder removal surgery, is a surgical procedure that removes the gallbladder, a pear-shaped organ located below the liver on the upper right side of the abdomen.
A hemicolectomy is a surgical procedure to remove one side of the colon. A hemicolectomy is needed if part or all of the colon has stopped working or has an incurable condition that endangers other parts.
An inguinal or groin hernia occurs when part of the membrane lining the abdominal cavity or intestine protrudes through a weak spot in the abdomen
A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the uterus. After this surgery, you can’t become pregnant and will no longer have a menstrual period.
Low anterior resection (LAR) is a surgical procedure performed to remove a portion of the rectum affected by cancer or other diseases.
Prostatectomy is a surgical procedure that removes part of or all of the prostate gland. The prostate gland is part of the male reproductive system, located in the pelvis, below the bladder.
