Creative Arts Therapy Internship at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center
As a diverse and centrally located hospital in Jamaica Queens we offer up to four Creative Arts Therapy Internship placements per semester. We have two adult inpatient Psychiatric units and one Psychiatric emergency Room/Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program. We offer services for adults from ages 18 and older. Queens County is the most diverse county/borough in the United States, and this fact is echoed in our patient population as well as in our staff composition. Depending on the program, Interns are required to log 300-350 hours, which is either spaced over one semester or two.
Training includes: observing, providing group therapy and individual therapy, learning to write notes and assessments, how to administer an art therapy assessment, care and maintenance of art materials, working with an interdisciplinary team, and attending educational seminars.
We are looking for Creative Art Therapy Interns who are bright, passionate, flexible, and eager to grow and improve themselves through hands-on training, as they become therapists.
