In an effort to protect the health of our patients, visitors and staff, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is making the following updates to our inpatient visitation policies effective Monday, January 7, 2022:

All visitors are required to show proof of vaccination status as well as photo identification OR proof of a negative COVID PCR test (results within the last 48 hours) and photo identification.

Medical / Surgical Units

  • Inpatient visitation on the hospital’s medical surgical units has been limited to 2 visitors per day (1 at a time) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • COVID + patients are not permitted visitors.

Ambulatory / Outpatient Care

  • All adult ambulatory care patients and patients scheduled for outpatient procedures and tests are not permitted to be accompanied by a guest. Pediatric ambulatory care patients are permitted to be accompanied by 1 parent or guardian.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

  • 2 parent or support person is permitted to visit patients in the NICU at the same time. Visitation is permitted 24 hours per day.
  • Visitation is not permitted for COVID + patients.

Mother-Baby Unit

  • Support person is permitted 24-hour visitation and (if applicable) a postpartum doula.
  • 2 grandparents permitted to visit per day (1 at a time) between 9:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m.

Labor and Delivery Unit

  • 1 support person and doula (if applicable) are permitted 24-hour visitation once the patient has been admitted.
  • 2 grandparents permitted to visit per day (1 at a time) between 9:00 a.m. -8:00 p.m.
  • COVID + patients are permitted 1 support person and doula (if applicable).
  • No additional visitors are permitted in the Labor & Delivery Recovery Room

Psychiatry Unit

  • All in-person visitation on our psychiatric units is limited to 1 visitor at a time between the hours of 6:30 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Visits are limited to 15 minutes. Family meetings with providers can be scheduled Monday – Friday, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Emergency Department

  • All visitation in the Hospital’s adult Emergency Department is currently suspended

Additional Requirements – All individuals must understand that patient visitation poses a risk of exposure to infectious diseases, including COVID-19 for the visitor as well as the patient.

All visitors must be free of fever, rash, cough, cold and any other contagious illness. No visitors displaying symptoms of illness are permitted to visit.

All visitors must remain at patient’s bedside for the duration of the visit.

All visitors must adhere to proper hand washing and social distancing recommendations and must comply with hospital policies including having their temperature taken upon arrival as well as wearing a surgical mask. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of visiting privileges.
