Swelling can be mild puffiness with no\ndiscomfort to very severe with changes in skin texture, color, and with a lot\nof pain. In very severe cases, swelling can lead to ulcerations, infections,\nand ultimately death if not treated in a timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the medical issues of\nswollen feet can be due to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Injury<\/li><li>Pregnancy<\/li><li>Congestive heart &nbsp;failure<\/li><li>Lymphedema<\/li><li>Blood Clots<\/li><li>Varicose veins<\/li><li>Infections<\/li><li>Medications such as steroids, antidepressants, and\n     calcium channel blockers<\/li><li>Venous insufficiency<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Diagnosing swollen feet usually\nstarts with a visual inspection and then by pressing into the skin with a\nfinger to see if it leads to an indentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some cases preventing swollen\nfeet can be done by wearing support stockings, proper exercise, eating a\nhealthy diet low in salt, and avoiding smoking and drinking alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treating swollen feet is dependent\non the cause and can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Medication<\/li><li>Surgery<\/li><li>Wrapping the limb with an elastic bandage<\/li><li>Elevating the foot above the level of the heart when\n     possible<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are experiencing swollen feet, consult your doctor who will find out what is causing the problem.
