They are an excellent source of nutrients that the body needs to\nfunction properly such as vitamin C, potassium, manganese, and fiber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health benefits of cherries include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>They are high in antioxidants which slow the\naging process<\/li><li>They contain high levels of polyphenols which\nare excellent for combatting inflammation, helping to reduce cell damage, and good\nfor reducing symptoms of gout and arthritis<\/li><li>They contain beta-carotene and vitamin C both of\nwhich are anti-inflammatories and antioxidants. These are useful for relieving\nmuscle pain due to exercise<\/li><li>They contain potassium which helps to keep the\nheart healthy by maintaining a proper heart rate and regulating blood pressure<\/li><li>They contain melatonin which is helpful in\nregulating the sleep \u2013 wake cycle<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cherries can be enjoyed as a raw snack, added to a fruit\nsalad, made into a pie or a fruit juice. They can be found year round in the\nfruit section of most supermarkets but summertime is when they are most\ncommonly seen.
