For some, however, there are other lingering symptoms that can\naffect their mental health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent research has concluded that nearly one person in five\ndiagnosed with COVID-19 now also suffers some form of a mental health disorder.\nThis can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/GettyImages-1217603648-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8812\" width=\"342\" height=\"230\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Anxiety<\/li><li>Depression\n<\/li><li>Insomnia<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Other patients may experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder\n(PTSD).&nbsp; Patients\nexperiencing PTSD typically have spent time in a hospital, more specifically in\nan intensive care unit, or were on a ventilator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While it is difficult to determine is if these mental\nhealth symptoms emerge in patients as a result of neurological reaction to the\nvirus or are due to the stresses of contracting the virus, it is important to raise\nawareness of the issue and provide resources to get these individuals the\nnecessary help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamaica Hospital Medical Center\u2019s Post-COVID Care\nCenter, located in our MediSys Hollis Tudors Center at 2001-16 Hollis Avenue,\noffers comprehensive range of services for those living with lingering effects\nof the virus, mental health services delivered by highly qualified\npsychiatrists.
