{"id":8469,"date":"2021-02-18T14:59:01","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T14:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/newsletter\/?p=8469"},"modified":"2021-02-18T14:59:53","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T14:59:53","slug":"ayshea-beswick-bailey-shares-her-jamaica-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/newsletter\/ayshea-beswick-bailey-shares-her-jamaica-journey\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayshea Beswick-Bailey Shares Her &#8220;Jamaica Journey&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/ayshea-beswick.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8470\" width=\"332\" height=\"222\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Thousands of people work at Jamaica Hospital and each has their own unique story to tell about their career path.&nbsp; The following is one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ayshea Beswick-Bailey RN, MSN, PMHNP; Clinical Nurse Manager\nfor Psych-3, began her career journey at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center 17\nyears ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Driven by a strong desire to care for others, Ayshea pursued\na career in nursing \u201cI always knew I wanted to be a nurse. As a child I enjoyed\nhelping people and was intrigued by anything related to medicine,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2003, she joined Jamaica Hospital as a Licensed Practical\nNurse on 3-North. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from\nLehman College, Ayshea honed her clinical expertise by working in various areas\nof the hospital as a Float Team RN.&nbsp; Her\nnext career stop was the E.R., where she worked for almost 10 years.&nbsp; For Ayshea, working in the E.R. was one of\nher best experiences.&nbsp; She said there is\nno limit to what you can learn there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ayshea used the knowledge and experience she gained in the\nE.R. to transition to the Psychiatry department. While working as a Staff Nurse,\nAyshea completed the Master of Science program at Hunter College and received her\ndegree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout her journey at Jamaica Hospital, Ayshea has\nbecome known by many for her strong work ethic and willingness to go above and\nbeyond. In fact, she was nominated for a G.E.M award which is given to\nemployees who go the extra mile to help patients and colleagues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her commitment to providing excellent care to\npatients, Ayshea credits her professional growth to the support of her mentors\nand colleagues.&nbsp; \u201cMy first mentor at Jamaica\nhospital was Linda Hayes, the Assistant Director of Nursing Administration. She\nalways pushed me and believed in me,\u201d she stated. \u201cI am also very grateful that\nother leaders such as Marge Lilienthal, Liz Garcia, Dr. Daniel Chen, Dr. Martha\nEdelman and Dr. Meri Nisimova gave me a chance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about her overall experience of working at\nJamaica Hospital, Ayshea replied, \u201cI know this may sound clich\u00e9, but it is the\ntruth, working at Jamaica Hospital has truly been like working with family.
