The WHO and AAP recommend that this\noccur at the six month mark. A baby who is starting to eat solid food may not\nrequire as much breastmilk for nutrition. It is best to slowly wean a baby off\nof breastmilk instead of stopping suddenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no evidence to indicate that long term\nbreastfeeding can be harmful to a baby\u2019s or mother\u2019s health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately the decision for how long to breastfeed will be\nup to the mom and her baby.
