The body\u2019s\nresponse to stressful circumstances is to produce the hormones cortisol and\nadrenaline. When stressful circumstances persist for long periods of time, these\nhigher level of these hormones can lead to depression, anxiety, weight gain,\nbone loss or high blood pressure. In some cases crisis fatigue can lead to\nsubstance abuse, alcoholism and suicidal thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The signs and symptoms of crisis fatigue include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Increased irritability<\/li><li>Excessive emotional responses<\/li><li>Lack of sleep<\/li><li>Changes in normal routines<\/li><li>Changes in appetite<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the ways a person can cope during these uncertain\ntimes is to learn how to reduce the level of stress in their life by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reducing the amount of time spent on social\nmedia<\/li><li>Limiting exposure to news reports<\/li><li>Spending more time with family and friends<\/li><li>Practicing meditation and yoga<\/li><li>Finding activities that are calming like\nreading, listening to music, and crafts<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It isn\u2019t always easy to cope with stressful situations\nwithout professional help.
