Allergies are typically caused by a\nreaction to an allergen such as pollen while pink eye can be caused by bacteria\nor a virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An additional distinction between the two conditions is viral\nor bacterial pink eye is extremely contagious and can be spread by contact with\nan infected individual or exposure to a contaminated surface.
