A sinus infection develops as the result of fluid filling the spaces in the head that surround the cavities of the nose and the eyes. These sinuses are normally filled with air but when they fill with fluid they can become blocked and\u00a0 there is the possibility that bacteria can grow there and become infected. An infection in the sinuses is called sinusitis. A sinus infection can be caused by a cold, allergies, hay fever, a deviated septum and nasal polyps.
\nSinus infection symptoms include:
\n\u2022\u00a0Pressure or pain around the face and eyes
\n\u2022\u00a0Headache
\n\u2022\u00a0Blockage in your nose
\n\u2022\u00a0Congestion
\n\u2022\u00a0Post nasal drip
\n\u2022\u00a0Fever or cough
\n\u2022\u00a0Thick yellow foul smelling discharge from your nose
\n\u2022\u00a0Reduced sense of smell
\n\u2022\u00a0Fatigue
\n\u2022\u00a0Ear pain
\nRelief for a sinus infection can come from antibiotics, steam, hot showers, decongestants, and antihistamines.
