However, with AFib the heart\u2019s two upper chambers contract rapidly and out of sync with the lower chambers.<\/p>\n<p>Each person\u2019s experience with AFib may differ; some people may have no symptoms, while others may have incidents of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heart palpitations<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness<\/li>\n<li>Chest discomfort<\/li>\n<li>Fatigue<\/li>\n<li>Shortness of breath<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are frequently experiencing these symptoms, make an appointment to see your <a href=\"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/clinical-services\/cardiology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><a href=\"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/clinical-services\/queens-cardiology-center\/\" target=\"_blank\">physician<\/a><\/a>. Your doctor will run the following to diagnose <a href=\"https:\/\/jamaicahospital.org\/clinical-services\/queens-cardiology-center\/\" target=\"_blank\">atrial fibrillation<\/a>:&nbsp; electrocardiogram, trans- telephonic monitor, holter monitor or portable event monitor testing.<\/p>\n<p>If symptoms are ignored and AFib goes untreated it can develop into serious health complications such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coronary artery disease<\/li>\n<li>Heart failure<\/li>\n<li>Pulmonary embolism<\/li>\n<li>Cardiomyopathy<\/li>\n<li>Hypertension<\/li>\n<li>Stroke<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are many options available to treat or improve the symptoms of AFib.
